My First Blog Post!

Well, Blogger is certainly nothing unique (and neither is that title, yikes). I've jumped on the bandwagon, officially. Basically, all I want to do in this is document going to art school and living in the big Apple (heyyy New Amsterdam! Following my Dutch roots...). However, until I actually get there... this will probably be the only post. Hah. Once I get to the city I'll try and photodocument because that's really the best way, I think.

All I can say right now is that I'm getting excited to live in the city. I originally had no intention of going to school there, but the program is awesome and it's a prestigious design shool (Parsons New School for Design). It will certainly be a lot different than what I'm used to--living in West Chester (as much as I love it, it's definitely nothing like NYC) and living in Easton (I guess Easton's on the rise? Maybe? ...well, it had Cosmic Cup, and that's good enough for me). Also I'm superglad Gabby will be at NYU Tisch. Having one of my best friends there will be pretty awesome.

Essentially, this blogger is about trusting my own art. It's so easy to be worried that my art is not "good enough," and I've fallen into that trap many, many times. I try to think about "good enough for who?" when I find myself doubting whatever I'm working on. Art is about yourself. My art is about myself. Each work I create clearly comes from myself, and it documents my view of the world. I am in the process of learning to trust my art, and believing that yes, it IS art, and doesn't have to be "worthy" of being called that, because it already is art to begin with.

Anyways, I suppose that's it for now...
